Help us build the most comprehensive dataset on startups making a positive impact

Tech should have more than a commercial purpose. A growing number of startups are solving some of humanity’s most pressing issues. Measuring social purpose is challenging of course. To start, we picked a couple of Social Development Goals (SDGs) to begin tracking companies meeting these goals.

So far, we’ve compiled a list of 600+ impact startups. We understand the methodology as described in the dataset may raise questions, and we very much welcome feedback. You can help us by submitting more startups and providing feedback. Over time, we strive to make the dataset as comprehensive and thoughtful as possible. If you would like to be involved as contributor or even partner on this, please feel free to contact us!

We will release the first analysis in partnership with Atomico & the State of European Tech at Slush!

What is our methodology?
We created a Google Sheet of startups with business activities that align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each company is assigned to one SDG only. There are two levels of alignment: core and side.

  1. Core = directly aligned with Social Development Goals (e.g. cleaning the ocean)
  2. Side = indirectly aligned with Social Development Goals (e.g. shared mobility)
