For the past few years, global investment into European venture capital had been steadily growing, while roughly keeping pace with the overall growth of European tech. But in 2019 things changed, as investment from Asia and the USA into European mega-rounds has really started surging. So much that the funding mix of European tech has drastically shifted.

This shift is at least partially driven by the rise of mega-rounds, which are dominated by Asian and USA investors. Which raises one key question: Is Europe’s VC industry lacking the financial firepower to participate in mega rounds?
