Summer: a time for caffe freddo and contemplation

Each year, venture capital slows down in July and August and this year was no different. How much did August slow down? The below chart provides the answer:

But due to some mega-rounds like Flixbus and N26, the amount of capital invested in July 2019 was still higher than any month in 2018 or 2017. In August, despite Babylon Health and Klarna’s rounds, things did slow down: €2.3 billion was invested in Europe and Israel in 188 rounds, slightly above August 2018 level of €2.2 billion, but below 2017.
